Trinity College Dublin, School of Computer Science and Statistics have developed some interesting software which allows organisations to open up their resources and management policies to their stakeholders and communities. This potentially has the promise of making them completely democratic and eliminating some of the negative aspects of traditional "command and control" hierarchies.
2020 people is the in talks with Trinity College with a view to beta testing their solution. This will allow the community to not only contribute to the decisions about how to develop the concept and the website, but ultimately to actually make the decisions and allocate the resources.
Next steps are a desk evaluation of the software and following that a play around with the software then a trial with 2020people before a full roll-out. The desk evaluation should begin in the next fortnight or so. I'll keep you informed of progress as it happens.
